1704 Rhinanthus serotinus (Schönh). Sch. & Thell.

Syn.: R. angustifolius C. C. Gmel., R. major auct., non L.

This variable species occurs in large parts of Europe and (spontaneously?) W. Asia. The taxonomy does not seem to be clarified sufficiently (cf. Fl. Eur. 3/1972, p. 280). It occurs through N. and C. Europe eastwards into W. Asia. It seems to be introduced further to the east and into at least one place in eastern N. America. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 409.
