1789 Gnaphalium uliginosum L.

Syn.: Filaginella uliginosa (L.) Opiz

This polymorphic species is considered to originate from Eurasia, where some separate taxa are distinguished (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 278; Fl. Eur. 4/1976, p. 127 f.). As their ranges do not seem to be clearly known, no attempt has been made to map them here. Further, the species (at least subsp. uliginosum) has spread widely as a weed, for instance to N. America. However, Fernald (Manual 1950, p. 1464) reports the species as an indigenous plant there. It is registered among the circumpolar plants (Hultén, I. cit. and map 269).
