cikoria
Cichorium intybus
1875 Cichorium intybus L.
This species originates from Europe (probably the S. and SE. parts) and W. Asia. As a medicinal plant it was spread by man to several other parts of Eurasia where it is partly naturalized. Subsp. glaucum (Hoffms. & Link) Tzvel. occurs also approximately S of the bracken line. The species has been introduced into S. Africa, N. and S. America, Australia and New Zealand. It now has a discontinuous circumpolar distribution (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 280 and map 272).
