338 Deschampsia alpina (L.) Roem. & Schult.

This species occurs in the arctic and the northern mountains of Europe. In Fl. Eur. 5/1980, p. 225 f. it is considered as a subspecies of D. caespitosa. The distribution is incompletely known, especially in Siberia and N. America. Some of the occurrences should perhaps be referred to D. caespitosa. D. alpina is reported among the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 222 and map 203). Cf. also Meusel at al. 1965, map p. 51.
