1549 Anchusa arvensis (L.) Bieb.

Syn.: Lycopsis arvensis L.

This species is considered to originate from SE. Europe and adjacent parts of Asia. Subsp. arvensis, nowadays in most of Europe, is replaced towards the SE by subsp. orientalis (L.) Nordh. The species has been introduced and naturalized as a weed in W., C. and N. Europe and in N. America. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 366.
