This species is mainly restricted t o W., C. and S. Europe and NW. Africa. It is locally adventive mainly in N. and E. Europe. Furthermore, it has been introduced into several parts of the world, for instance W. Africa, India, N. and S. America, Australia and New Zealand. In part, the distribution is incompletely known.
