Syn.: Elymus repens (L.) Gould, Elytrigia repens (L.) Nevski

This polymorphic species (cf. Fl. Eur. 5/1980, p. 196) is considered native to Europe and W. Asia. It has spread as a weed within and outside this area, for instance northwards in Europe, to E. Asia, N. and S. America, Australia and New Zealand. The present distribution is circumpolar (Hultén, Circumpol. I, p. 210 and map 199).
