Syn.: C. cava (L.) Schw. & Koerte

This species s. lat. is restricted to Europe and adjacent parts of Asia. Three subspecies are distinguished in Fl. Eur. 1/1964, p. 253, viz. subsp. bulbosa in the Eurapean part of the total range, subsp. marschalliana (Pall.) Chater in SE. Eurape and adjacent parts of Asia and subsp. blanda (Schott) Chater in Jugoslavia. The two first-mentioned taxa are mapped here. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 172.
