This arctic species has a disjunct distribution in N. Europe and northern N. America. It is reported among the amphi-atlantic plants by Hultén, Amphiatl., p. 184 and map 166. Closely related taxa occur in the Himalayas, China and western N. America (op. cit.). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 355.
