1334 Viola epipsila Ledeb.

This species includes subsp. epipsila in Europe and W. Siberia and subsp. repens (Turcz.) W. Beck. in C. and E. Siberia and northwestern N. America. The distribution of subsp. repens in N. America is less extensive towards east and south according to Porsild and Cody 1980, map 817. The species lat. has a distribution which is almost circumpolar. However, it is reported among the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 122 and map 104). See further no. 1333. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 289.
