Hedera helix
1381 Hedera helix L.
This variable species is restricted to Europe and adjacent parts of Africa and Asia. It is separated into three subspecies in Fl. Eur. 2/1968, p. 314, each having rather distinct distribution areas. Further, the closely related H. caucasigena Pojark in Caucasus and H. taurica Carr. in the Crimea and Dobrudzha (more likely subspecies of H. helix) are included in this map. The species s. lat. has been introduced and partly naturalized into N. America (S. and SE. states) and New Zealand and probably other parts of the world. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 303.
