This mainly boreal, partly montane species belongs to the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 140 and map 132). V. oxycoccos subsp. microphyllum (Lge) Löve & Löve in eastern N. America and SW. Greenland is shown on this map. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 331.
