The map shows the total range of this Eurasiatic species as well as the N. American A. canadensis L. (syn.: A. dichotoma var. canadensis MacMillan). Together these two closely related taxa have a circumpolar distribution although with large gaps in Europe-Greenland and E. Siberia-Alaska (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 377 and map 160).
