219 Poa arctica R. Br. subsp. caespitans (Simm.) Nannf.

This subspecies occurs in the arctic region of Eurasia and N. America. For other P. arctica taxa see no. 218. It is recorded among the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 24 and map 5). Later on, several occurrences were found in N. and E. Siberia (Tolmatchev in Fl. Aret. URSS 2/1964, p. 131 f.) and in N. Alaska (Hultén, Fl. Alaska Neighbor. Terr., p. 131). For that reason, this taxon may be regarded as a circumpolar plant.
