1705 Lathraea squamaria L.

This species is mainly restricted to Europe with same outposts eastwards to the Himalayas. Conformity with the range of the mast common host Corylus avellana (no. 626) is conspicuous. It seems to have disappeared from some earlier localities, for instance in Ireland (Atlas Brit. Fl. 1962, map p. 236). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 411.
