1891 Hieracium pilosella L. coll.

This polymorphic species (eight subspecies in Fl. Eur. 4/1976, p. 368 f.) occurs in most of Europe (except the far N) and in adjacent parts of Africa and Asia. It has been introduced into N. America and New Zealand lately. In S. Europe the closely related H. pseudopilosella Ten. dominates.
