1805 Achillea millefolium L. complex

This polymorphic species and closely related taxa form together a complex (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 292; Fl. Eur. 4/1976, p. 16 2f.). A. millefolium has a wide Eurasiatic distribution. It is favoured by clearings and has been introduced into most parts of N. America and partly S. America, S. Australia and New Zealand. The species includes, among others, subsp. sudetica (Opiz) Weiss in the mountains of S. Europe. The closely related A. setacea Waldst. & Kit. occurs approximately S of the broken line. The distribution areas of the N. American A. borealis Bong. (syn.: A. nigrescens [E. Mey.] Rydb.) and A. lanulosa Nutt. are also tentatively marked on the map. The whole complex has a circumpolar distribution (Hultén, I. cit. and map 283).
