1451 Ledum palustre L.

The map shows the total range of the main taxa belonging to this L. palustre complex. Opinion as to the taxonomic position of these taxa varies considerably (cf. Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 80, 333 f.). The following taxa are distinguished as subspecies and mapped here, viz. subsp. palustre in Europe and Siberia, the arctic-montane subsp. decumbens (Ait.) Hult. in Eurasia and N. America, subsp. diversipilosum (Nakai) Hara in E. Asia and subsp. groenlandicum (Oeder) Hult. in N. America and Greenland. The closely related L. glandulosum Nutt. in western N. America is also mapped. The complex has a circumpolar distribution, although with a North Atlantic gap (Hultén, l. cit. and map 71). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 328.
