This species is mainly restricted to W. and C. Europe. It is adventive at same of the outlying localities. It is considered indigenous in SE. New Foundland (Fernald). Consequently, it is reported among the amphiatlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 150 and map 131). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 215.
