Cirsium palustre
1865 Cirsium palustre (L.) Scop.
This species mainly occurs in most of Europe and adjacent parts of Asia. It has been introduced, for instance, into N. America and New Zealand. According to Fernald (Manual 1950, p. 1540) it seems to be indigenous on Newfoundland. However, the species nowadays has an amphi-atlantic distribution (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 162 and map 144).
