1633 Misopates orontium (L.) Raf.

Syn.: Antirrhinum orontium L.

This variable species probably originates from the Mediterranean region. It has been widely spread with agriculture and occurs in several parts of the world, for instance in C. and S. Africa, N. America, SE. Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 392.
