This species has been widely spread by man, for instance northwards in Europe and to several parts of Africa and Asia (e. g. Japan), N. and S. America, Australia and New Zealand. The map is partly incomplete. In Fl. Eur. 5/1980, p. 204f., three subspecies are distinguished.
