Tilia platyphyllos
1300 Tilia platyphyllos Scop.
This mainly European tree is often cultivated for ornamental purposes. It is one of the parent species of T. vulgaris Hayne. Fossils are found in interglacial layers inside and outside the area of recent distribution. Also, pollen grains are found occasionally in postglacial layers.
