This originally Eurasiatic species is introduced and naturalized in eastern N. America. In parts of E. and SE. Asia subsp. dahurica (Ledeb.) Tatew. Is distinguished. The limits are uncertain in C. and E. Asia. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 333.
