This variable species (cf. Fl. Eur. 1/1964, p. 151) occurs in most of Europe and adjacent parts of Africa and Asia. The distribution eastwards are incompletely known. The outlying localities relate to occasional occurrences. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 152.
