Syn.: Bilderdykia dumetorum (L.) Dum., Fallopia dumetorum (L.) Holub

This species originates from Eurasia. Probably it has been introduced into other parts of the northern hemisphere (N. America?). Two closely related N. American taxa, P. scandens L. and P. scandens var. cristatum (Engelm. & Gray) Gleas. are mapped together, certainly incompletely. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 131.
