1428 Pastinaca sativa L.

This species originates from C. and S. Europe. Four subspecies are distinguished in Fl. Eur. 2/1968, p. 364. Subsp. sativa has been introduced as a vegetable to other parts of Europe and to several countries around the world. From gardens it has spread widely as a weed.
