1851 Arnica montana L.

This species is restricted to Europe. Two subspecies are distinguished (Fl. Eur. 4/1976, p. 189 f.), viz. subsp. montana throughout the range of the species, except NW. and W. Iberian Peninsula, and subsp. atlantica A. Bol6s from SW. France to S. Portugal.
