Carex maritima
436 Carex maritima Gunn.
Syn.: C. incurva Lightf.
This arctic-subarctic and high mountain species has a wide but disjunct distribution in Eurasia, N. and S. America (from NW. Argentina and N. Chile to Tierra del Fuego), thus being a bipolar plant (Du Rietz in Acta phyt. Suec. 13/1940, p. 218). It belongs also to the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. I, p. 48 and map 41).
