232 Festuca trachyphylla (Hack.) Krajina

Syn.: F. duriuscula L. sensu Lindman 1926 et auct. poster. scand.

This species is sometimes taken as a subspecies of F. ovina. Its origin seems to be C. Europe, from where it has been spread with grass seeds to the British lsles and Fennoscandia. It is reported from N. America (Ottawa). The knowledge of its distribution is incomplete and the map is therefore preliminary.
