The range of this Eurasiatic species includes subsp. polyanthemoides (Bor.) Ahlfv. in Neum. (cf. Fl. Eur. 1/1964, p. 226). Subsp. thomasii Ten. is reported from Calabria (I. cit.), possibly belonging to R. nemorosus DC. (no. 841). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 164.
