1282 Euphorbia helioscopia L.

This widespread species probably originates from the Mediterranean region and W. and possibly also E. Asia. It has the spread as a weed to mast parts of the world, for instance to N. Europe, S. Africa, N. and S. America, Australia and New Zealand. Nowadays it belongs to the discontinuous circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 210 and map 201). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 269.
