1550 Mertensia maritima (L.) Gray

This sea-shore species occurs in N. and NW. Europe and northern N. America. It belongs to the amphiatlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 294 and map 275). In the E. Asiatic Pacific region, the species is replaced by M. asiatica (Takeda) Macbr. (M. maritima subsp. asiatica Takeda).
