561 Leucorchis albida (L.) E. Mey.

Syn.: Pseudorchis albida (L.) A. & D. Löve

Within this mainly arctic-montane species two subspecies have been distinguished, viz. subsp. albida in the C., W. and to some extent N. part of Europe and subsp. straminea (Fem.) A. & D. Löve in N. Europe (called var. subalpina [Neum.] Hyl. n. nud.), Greenland and infrequently in northeastern N. America. Both subspecies meet in C. and N. Scandinavia, in an area difficult to indicate precisely. The species belongs to the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 116 and map 98). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 107.
