640 Viscum album L.

This rather variable species has a disjunct distribution in Eurasia. Besides subsp. album (on dicotyledoneous trees) there are two wellknown European subspecies, viz. subsp. abietis (Wiesb.) Abrom. (on Abies spp.) in C. and SE. Europe and subsp. austriacum (Wiesb.) Vollm. (on Pinus and Larix spp.) in C. and S. Europe. These two subspecies are mapped separately in Atlas Fl. Eur. 3/1976, maps 365 and 366. In some of the N. European localities marked on the map the species may be extinct. The E. Asiatic subsp. coloratum Kom. is also mapped.
