1838 Senecio palustris (L.) Hook.

Syn.: Tephroseris palustris (L.) Fourr. subsp. palustris, T. p. subsp. congesta (R. Br.) Holub

This species includes at least two types, one northern var. congestus (R. Br.) Kom. and one southern var. palustris. Some occurrences, for instance in Norway and NW. Russia, are adventive. The species s. lat. belongs to the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 96 and map 87).
