361 Stipa pennata L. subsp. joannis (Cel.) Cel.

This steppe grass belongs to a complex of closely related taxa, in Fl. Eur. 5/1980, p. 248, 250 grouped within the species S. pennata L. and S. joannis Cel. The distribution of this taxon is partly uncertain in details due to confusion with closely related taxa. The isolated occurrence in Västergötland (Vestrogothia), S. Sweden, has been interpreted as a xerothermal relict. It is not, however, out of the question that there could have been an anthropochor dispersal from SE in prehistoric times, when the trade between SE. Europe and Scandinavia was comparatively intense.
