1163 Sorbus aria (L.) Cr.

This species, excl. the closely related S. obtusifolia (DC.) Hedl. (syn.: S. norvegica Hedl.) and S. rupicola (Syme) Hedl. (see no. 1164 and 1165, respectively), is mainly restricted to Europe. In the mountains of W. Jugoslavia subsp. lanifera (A. Kern.) Jav. is distinguished. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 209.
