knottblomster
Malaxis monophyllos
585 Malaxis monophylla (L.) Sw.
Syn.: Microstylis monophyllos (L.) Lindl.
This rather variable, calciphilous species occurs, mainly infrequently, from Europe through large parts of Asia to Alaska. In the rest of N. America, it is replaced by var. brachypoda (Gray) Morris & Arnes. The species belongs to the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. I, p. 164 and map 155). The closely related M. muscifera (Lindl.) O. Kuntze occurs in the Himalayas (marked separately on the map).
