Galeopsis tetrahit
1586 Galeopsis tetrahit L.
This species is nowadays widely distributed in Europe. The distribution outside Europe is uncertain because G. tetrahit and G. bifida are not always distinguished from each other (cf. no. 1587). Therefore, it seems questionable whether G. tetrahit occurs eastwards through Siberia. It is considered to have been introduced into N. America (Fernald, Manual), but it is possible that G. bifida is the only species to have been introduced there (cf. Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 234). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 378.
