plattstarr
Carex disticha
464 Carex disticha Huds.
This Eurasiatic species may be commoner eastwards than the map indicates. It is found in a few places in E. Canada (probably introduced). However, C. sartwellii Dew. (from the eastern states through Upper Midwest to Rocky Mts.) may be regarded as an American counterpart to C. disticha. In E. and SE. Asia the closely related C. lithophila Turcz. occurs (tentatively mapped here). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 67.
