1040 Parnassia palustris L. subsp. palustris

This map and the following one show the total range of this polymorphic species. The lowland form, subsp. palustris, is presented on this map together with the approximate distribution limit of var. ussuriensis Kom. in the Far East. The highland form, subsp. neogaea (Fem.) Hult. Syn.: P. obtusiflora Rupr.

This arctic to subarctic-montane subspecies occurs not only in Eurasia (as the lowland subspecies, no. 1040) but also in N. America. Its distribution is, however, insufficiently known, especially in the C. Asiatic area and eastwards. Therefore the range of the hatched area is only tentatively indicated. This subspecies belongs to the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 76, 330f. and map 68). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 207.
