Juncus bulbosus
186 Juncus bulbosus L.
Syn.: J. supinus Moench
The taxonomy and nomenclature of this mainly European species s. lat. is intricate. It occurs in most of Europe and adjacent parts of Africa and probably in W. Asia and eastern N. America. Thus it may belong to the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphiatl., p. 130 and map 112). It has been introduced into New Zealand. In W. Europe a closely related taxon occurs, viz. J. kochii Schultz (Hegi Il, ed. 2, p. 212: J. supinus subsp. kochii Syme). In N. America and on Greenland the related 1 subtilis E. Mey. Is distinguished (Fernald, Manual 1950, p. 416).
