1355 Epilobium angustifolium L.

Syn.: Chamaenerion angustifolium (L.) Scop.

This species is widely distributed in Eurasia and N. America. It may be divided into two subspecies, viz. the northern subsp. angustifolium (most of the population of Eurasia) and the southern subsp. circumvagum Mosquin mainly in the S. part of the N. American range. The species belongs to the most exclusively circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 88 and map 79). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 298.
