1757 Campanula rotundifolia L.

This polymorphic species (cf. Fl. Eur. 4/1976, p. 92f.) is widely distributed in Eurasia and N. America. It forms together with lower taxa a critical complex (cf. Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 128, 351). The northern limit of the typical C. rotundifolia (subsp. rotundifolia) and the southern limit of a large-flowered race are drawn tentatively on the map, as well as the approximate limit of the Rocky Mts. taxa and that of the E. Asiatic population appearing under the name C. langsdorffiana Fisch., more likely a subspecies of C. rotundifolia. The whole complex has a circumpolar distribution (Hultén, I. cit. and map 119).
