This mainly European species (incl. O. pallidiflora Wimm. & Grab.) grows on species of Cirsium, Carduus, Knautia and related genera. It occurs in several European countries, mostly in the C. and SE. part of the continent. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 412.
