1675 Euphrasia stricta J. P. Wolff

Syn.: E. brevipila Burn. & Gremli

This variable species was originally restricted to Europe and probably parts of W. Asia (cf. Fl. Eur. 3/1972, p. 263). The limits are tentatively drawn. The northern occurrences belong to var. tenuis (Brenn.) Jalas according to Th. Karlsson (pers. comm. 1982), i. e. the same taxon as E. arctica subsp. tenuis (Brenn.) Yeo (cf. Fl. Eur. 3/1972, p. 261; Yeo in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 77 /1978, p. 259). The species is probably not native in N. America.
