1813 Leucanthemum vulgare Lam. complex

Syn.: Chrysanthemum leucanthemum L.

This species includes several lower taxa, also recognized as separate species (Fl. Eur. 4/1976, p. 175 f.). Together they form a complex which is almost circumpolar (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 394 and map 270). The species s. lat. has been favoured by clearings in the ancient forest landscape. It has been introduced into N. America, where it is widely naturalized, and, for instance, into S. America, S. Australia and New Zealand.
