Syn.: Tephroseris atropurpurea (Ledeb.) Holub, T. integrijolia (L.) Holub subsp. atropurpurea (Ledeb.) B. Nord.

In Fl. Eur. 4/1976, p. 199, this arctic-montane species is reported as subsp. atropurpureus (Ledeb.) Cuf. of S. integrifolius (L.) Clairv. (no. 1836). The population in Eurasia may be distinguished as subsp. atropurpureus. From northwestern N. America subsp. frigidus (Richards.) Hult. and subsp. tomentosus (Kjellm.) Hult. are reported (Hultén, Fl. Alaska Neighbor. Terr., p. 928). The closely related, C. Asiatic S. turczaninovii DC. is also mapped.
