Syn.: Helleborine latifolia (L.) Moench

This widespread species occurs in most of Europe (except N) and in large parts of W., C. and E. Asia (towards the south montane). The E. Asiatic population has been distinguished as E. papillosa Franch. & Sav. (Ohwi, Fl. Jap., p. 334). The species has been introduced and naturalized in America, mainly in the eastem part.
